Simpsons has launched a stylish new walk in easy access enclosure in its luxury Elite range. Designed to make showering easy for the whole family, it comes with a robust 8mm toughened glass screen and folding panel to enable easy in and out access. It’s also compatible with a range of 25mm low profile shower trays so it can be floor mounted with no step up – for a total integrated bathroom look. The shower trays come with a high flow waste which prevents any danger of overflow too, so everything is covered.

Dave Hance, group Chairman of Crosswater adds his enthusiasm for the product; “This new addition to the Elite range is perfect – a fully functional enclosure that the whole family can use, that doesn’t compromise on style. I’m really excited about this product; it’s stylish, elegant, and enables the customer to have a designer look and a bathroom suitable for the whole family.”

The enclosure is available in a range of widths – 1050, 1250, and 1450mm – and is 2000mm in height. It can be fitted in an alcove or, paired with a fixed end panel, will suit corner installations. The door is also adjustable – perfect for out of true walls.

The glass comes with a bright chrome plated profile for a sleek finish, and for added style, it can be teamed with the Elite walk in a smart mirrored end panel to add character, reflected light or a degree of modesty in a shared bathroom – perfect bathroom design! And finally, to keep the shower looking brand new throughout its lifetime guarantee, all glass is supplied with Simpson Clear as standard which drastically reduces staining from hard water and chemical deposits that can accelerate the ageing process.

Franke Washroom Systems, aka Franke Sissons, now has a number of products BIM modelled.  Most are for hospital and janitorial use – areas where Franke Washrooms is a leading supplier. These models will be shown on the website at www.franke-sissons.co.uk  in the near future. The company is also working on modelling its solid surface Miranit range which has been very successful in commercial building applications.

Essentially the UK Government has embarked with industry on a four year programme for sector modernisation with the key objectives of reducing capital cost and the carbon burden from the construction and operation of the built environment by 20%. Central to these ambitions is the adoption of information rich Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies that will unlock new more efficient ways of working at all stages of the project life-cycle

The Government Construction Strategy was published by the Cabinet office on 31 May 2011. The report announced the Government’s intention to require: collaborative 3D BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic) on its projects by 2016 – making BIM modelling an essential for any supplier looking to supply products to the construction industry.  It is hoped that BIM modelling will go some way to preserve the integrity of original specification by architects and specifiers as cheaper, poorer quality products are unlikely to go to the expense involved of getting products BIM Modelled.

“We are very aware of the importance of BIM modelling to our business and our customers,” commented Andy Dukelow Managing Director of Franke Washroom Systems. “All of the products will be highlighted on our website, making it easy for customers, architects and specifiers to identify and make the choice that suits their needs.  What will be interesting for us, as early adopters, is to see whether this kind of modelling will help stamp out the last-minute, margin grabbing substitution of sub-standard products that is so rife at the moment.  If it does make it harder, then this will be a huge step forward in protecting British manufacturing”
