Remote controlled kitchen freshness from Amica

Amica has expanded its Platinum built-in appliances’ collection with a choice of chimney hoods, all following the elegant Platinum design in stainless steel with black glass and red illumination for the ultimate in co-ordination and with advanced features for the modern kitchen.

There are four powerful and highly effective, yet exceptionally quiet Platinum chimney hoods to choose from – one at 60cm and three at 90cm.

The 60cm OKS652T is the little brother of the 90cm OKS952T, each designed for wall fitting with a strip frontage of black glass. The OWS952T Platinum Island chimney hood has the same sophisticated charm but is double-sided; specifically designed for a 360° appeal above island units.

Each of these three Platinum fingerprint resistant chimney hoods operates at an exceptionally low maximum noise level of just 53dB, comes with a choice of five speeds and has an extraction capacity of 800m³h to expel cooking odours quickly. An electronic display illuminates under the glass, a timer allows a pre-set timescale for extraction and all three models are sensor and remote controlled for the height of convenience. These chimney hoods also come with two aluminium grease filters and halogen lights to brighten up the hob and work space beneath. The wall-mounted models are 50cm deep and the chimney extends from 64.7 to 102.7cm while the Island chimney hood is 60cm deep with a chimney length from 52.5 to 97.5cm.

The OKC953S Platinum Vertical chimney hood is a modern style statement with a hinged black glass cover that automatically opens on command by the sensor or remote control. Also with a timer for reduced energy wastage, this 90cm Amica model comes with four speeds of extraction, an electronic display and a maximum extraction capacity of 900m³h for an ultra-fresh kitchen. The contemporary Vertical chimney hood comes with two aluminium grease filters, wide-angled energy-saving LED lighting and a chimney extendable from 108 to 137cm.

All Amica products come with a two year guarantee for parts and labour.

Amica’s brand new own-service network offers retailers tangible improvements on the current market ‘norm’ and at the same time provides consumers with the superior service levels enjoyed when buying from their local independent retailer. The Amica Service Network, which covers England, Scotland and Wales, is an integral part of the Amica product promise. Amica’s retail partners ‘own’ the relationship with their customer and with many operating from the High Street in their own local community, good service is critical, providing them with a competitive advantage over large chains.

And Amica, along with The Wastepack Group and Electrolink, offers its retailers and distributors a completely free of charge collection and disposal service for all electrical products and associated packaging for recycling. The scheme saves Amica retailers paying any fees to a waste company or DTS, removes the hassle and paperwork and also allows them to choose to offer the complimentary collection and disposal service to their own customers, adding even more value.

Bear Grylls Invites Pilgrim Bandits to Bournemouth Show

Friday 22nd March 2012 – Bear Grylls invited forces amputees from local New Milton Charity, Pilgrim Bandits to come to the Bear Grylls Live On Stage show and meet the star himself.

Bear Grylls, whose gripping tales of survival have become a prime time television phenomenon across 200 countries sent a personal invitation to the charity to bring some amputees servicemen to the evening. Pilgrim Bandits raise funds and awareness for ex-forces amputees by hosting beyond-endurance challenges like desert treks, mountain climbing and skydiving. Adam Scott of Pilgrim Bandits said, “Bear has been a supporter of the charity because of his Special Forces background and it shares his extreme adventure ethos. It was a terrific night out.”

Sunday 25th March 2012 – climbing clients and friends of Craggy Island climbed a vertical mile for BBC Sport Relief.  30 people took part at the Guildford branch of Craggy Island in what was a gruelling four hour climb requiring over 200 ascents of the rope wall (the descents didn’t count!).  Rob Mitchell, Joint MD of Craggy Island said “It was exceptionally hard work, when we climb under normal circumstances we just climb for fun, completing around 20 climbs.  With this challenge it involved repeatedly climbing again and again until we’d completed this exceptional number of climbs!  It was great fun for everyone involved; kids, mums, dads and grandparents and professional climbers too.”

Craggy Island, which will be hosting the first ever Surrey Youth Climbing Festival on April 21st,  has yet to complete its tally up but it is hoped everyone’s efforts will have raised in excess of £5k for  Sport Relief.
